    Aschaffenburg-Alzenau

  • Rhein-Main

    About the RG

The regional group Rhein-Main was founded in February 2017. Our team has expertise in electrical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture and much more. Dedicated new members are always welcome! We do not have a real “thematic focus” because we work on very different projects. So it does not matter which special field you’re from, everyone can join us.We meet regularly every second Thursday in Frankfurt/ Main, alternating between a working meeting and a regular’s table in various restaurants.

    Additional interests

In addition to our actual project work, we also look for topics that we find interesting and important, without being assigned to a specific project. At the moment, we focus on the SDGs of the UN.

    Sustainable development goals

Not too long ago, the United Nations gave itself 17 development goals for sustainable development cooperation, which can also count for us as NGOs. These address the economic, ecological and social level of development and can be found in parts without further action in our projects. We as RG have set ourselves the goal of identifying for each of our projects which of the sustainable development goals we are addressing and how we can achieve further goals.

    Ongoing activities and projects

We continue collecting second hand sunglasses, reading glasses and first aid kits for the KCMC hospital in Moshi. On of their ressorts especially cares about people suffering from albinsim as part of the Albino Care Project; people are supported with sunprotecting lotion, sunprotecting hats, magnifying glasses and other items. We first started to support this institution within a dedicated project (TZA_14) and continue this partnership by bringing donations in kind during our other activities in Tanzania.

Apart from that we are still collecting english children’s books, which are going to our partner Stawisha Africa in Kenya and Trinity Academy in Tanzania. There we started small libraries, where kids have the opportunity to increase their reading skills. The libraries shall continue growing over time as we bring further books to Kenya and Tanzania along with our other activites there.

  • Amberg-Weiden

    Who are we?

The regional group Amberg-Weiden consists mostly of current and former students of the Technical University of Amberg-Weiden. We mainly deal with the topics “Environmentally friendly disposal of medical waste”, “Water supply” and “Maintenance support in hospitals” in African and Asian countries. The focus is not only on technical implementation, but also on independent project management of all relevant aspects, such as organization, fundraising and public relations.

    Let actions speak!

The implementation of an aid project is associated with a lot of organization and work. That’s why we can use every helping hand. Become part of our team and support us actively! Whether student, professional, pensioner, technician or non-technician, we cordially invite you to one of our next project meetings.
The Regional Group Amberg-Weiden meets every other week on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in room 219 of the MB/UT faculty of the OTH-AW (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring 23, 92224 Amberg). If you want to participate online, please write us a message so that we can send you a participation link.
At the meetings, organizational things are discussed, as well as the progress of the project groups. In addition, we plan events, fundraising campaigns and the next meetings here. If you are interested, you are welcome to visit us at any time, we look forward to every visitor and interested party. You can ask us questions about projects or support at any time by e-mail.

  • Rottenburg

We are the regional group Rottenburg. Our focus is on water and energy. Our completed projects were concerned with well regeneration, dry toilet and solar energy. Currently, more projects are planned and implemented. We meet every second Tuesday of the month at 19h at the Jugendhaus Klause in Rottenburg. If you are interested in our work or want to contribute, just come over!

  • Hamburg

The Hamburg regional group is currently working on three projects in the field of water supply. As part of the “Water for Eritrea” project, a sand storage dam is being planned and built to store and supply water for the population in the highlands of Eritrea. The project cooperates with the NGO ARCHEMED, which provides medical and humanitarian aid in Eritrea. In the “Clean Water for All – Chiro” project, a stable and sustainable water supply system is being implemented in a small village in eastern Cambodia. There we work with the local NGO Organization for Basic Training (OBT), which runs a free school in the village. In addition, in the project “Water supply for Sondoveni – Peru” an annual and clean water supply system for the village of Sondoveni in the Peruvian rainforest is being developed in cooperation with the local aid organization Creciendo. The regional group works closely with the local group of Engineers Without Borders and therefore benefits from an intensive transfer of experience and knowledge, joint activities and mutual support. Due to the large number of student members, we are still active as a regional group at the Technical University of Hamburg and receive great support from this side as well.

The implementation of aid projects involves a lot of organization and work. That’s why we can use every helping hand. Become part of our team and support us actively! Regardless of whether you are studying, working, retired, technicians or non-technicians, we cordially invite you to one of our next meetings!

  • Bayreuth

The group in Bayreuth currently deals with two projects in Ghana in the areas of “water Supply” and “Recycling”. On the one hand we aim to regenerate wells in different villages near Sunyani and Kumasi to enhance the supply of water. Furthermore, the village residents shall be trained in upkeep of the wells. Another project aims to improve the recycling of plastic waste, especially of water sachets by implementing waste bins at schools and teaching the students how plastic affects the environment. After collecting the plastic waste, it is intended to be brought to a recycling plant where it is converted into oil. In both projects we work together with our local members of TwB Ghana. In former projects we established an uninterruptible energy supply in the St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Eikwe/Western Region which is affected by irregular power outages. Additionally, we visited two schools in Akrofrom and worked out the consequences of contaminated water due to incorrect waste management. Furthermore, they explained the importance and benefits of recycling. In addition to these training courses, toilets were installed at one of those schools. These toilets don’t use water and help to improve the sanitary conditions of the school.

Our regional group currently meets every Monday via Zoom. If you are interested in our work, you are always welcome to join us by requesting the Zoom link via e-mail.

  • Erlangen

The regional group Erlangen is primarily focused on the topics “Environmentally friendly disposal of medical Waste”, “Water supply”, “Hospital Support” and “Teaching Computer Basics”. Our group has planned and implemented many projects in Africa, as well as in South America and Asia. The main focus of all our projects is the transfer of knowledge and skills between all people involved. This ensures that our work is as sustainable as possible. Information and photos of current and finished projects can be found below.

Everybody who is interested in getting to know us or just wants to have a look at what we do, is happily invited to our meetings. We meet every two weeks, usually in the room K2 at the FAU in Erlangen to exchange project related news, updates and all other events and tasks in the regional group. All studies and professions can get engaged despite our name containing “technology”. More important is motivation and generally a good spirit.

Another way to get in contact with us are our project presentations that are held after each completed project and give an insight into the daily life and the work involved in our projects.
Additionally, our group presents itself on many fairs at the uni, like the Contact or the Bonding fair. During christmas time we present arts and crafts from the countries we visit at a stand on the “Erlanger Waldweihnachtsmarkt”.
